Accessibility statement
Effective 22 September 2026. Kijoli aims to make its editorial archive readable and navigable for people using different devices, browsers, input methods, and assistive technologies.
1. Design approach
We use semantic headings, visible links, readable contrast, responsive layouts, and descriptive alternative text for editorial images. Content is written in English and organized into meaningful sections. We avoid using color alone to communicate a requirement.
2. Keyboard access
Navigation and form controls are intended to be usable with a keyboard. Focus should remain visible as a visitor moves through the page. If a control is difficult to reach, tell us the page address and browser so we can investigate.
3. Images
Images include descriptive alternative text where they carry editorial meaning. Decorative treatment is kept separate from essential text. A visitor may contact us if an image description is unclear or if an important visual explanation needs a text equivalent.
4. Forms
The contact form labels its fields and marks required information. A successful submission displays a confirmation message. Do not submit passwords, recovery phrases, or sensitive documents. We can accept a plain-text email or phone report instead.
5. Limitations
Third-party links and future embedded materials may not share the same accessibility features. Kijoli cannot control their markup, captions, contrast, or keyboard behavior. We identify external destinations where practical so visitors can make an informed choice.
6. Text and language
The current publication language is English. Technical terms are explained in context and in the glossary. Readers who need a different format may request a reasonable alternative, although we cannot promise translation or a specific file type.
7. Feedback process
Send feedback through contact.php with the page title, the barrier, and the assistive technology or browser involved if known. We review accessibility reports alongside editorial corrections. We aim to acknowledge a report within 30 days.
8. Improvement work
Accessibility is reviewed during significant layout changes and during the annual policy review. The current review date is 22 September 2026. We prioritize barriers that prevent navigation, reading, submission, or understanding.

Practical access information
Our target is a clear, adaptable reading experience rather than a claim that every page works perfectly with every device. The site is reviewed using common desktop and mobile browsers, keyboard navigation, browser zoom, and automated checks where available. A change in a browser, assistive technology, or third-party destination can affect the experience. Reports from visitors help us identify issues that a routine review may not reveal.
Headings are intended to follow a meaningful order, links describe their destination, and focus indicators should remain visible. Visitors may use browser zoom or text resizing without losing essential information, although very large settings can alter the layout. Tables and lists are used for relationships that need structure rather than visual spacing alone. We cannot repair another operator’s code or promise a specific format in every case.
